Cal Fire performs ‘hoist rescue’ of injured hiker on Bump and Grind Trail in Palm Desert

Cal fireplace performed a remote-area rescue Mon night for a stranded and wounded footer on the difficult Bump and Grind path outside of Palm Desert. 

“RSO Rescue nine performed a hoist rescue and delivered the patient to a ground ambulance,” Cal fireplace aforesaid in an exceedingly tweet regarding the 6:50 p.m. rescue. “The patient was transported to a part hospital with minor injuries.”

In its report on the incident, KESQ said the hiker might have suffered a broken articulatio plana that left him stranded within the Rancho Mirage area. 

“Hiking Guy,” an online hiking guide, provided details regarding the Bump and Grind Trail, explaining that it’s a complete distance of four miles with a hike time of roughly 2 hours. The guide labels the issue level as moderate and describes the hike as “a difficult however realizable climb” with a harder ascent but a straightforward decline.
